The Stewardship Foundation

Launched in August 2006 by Marlon M. Quan,  The Stewardship Foundation (a tax-exempt organization under Section 501© (3) ) provides financial and social support to orphaned and foster care adolescents who desire to attend college.
Approximately 22 ,000 teens age out of the foster care system every year.
When compared with their non-foster care peers, foster care teens are:

Less likely to finish high school

Less likely to pursue a higher education

Less likely to avoid arrest and incarceration

Less likely to earn a living wage

Without a family to care for them kids in foster care begin to age out of the system, whether voluntarily or involuntarily at age 18.  Forced to move in and out schools and homes for years, many of these students struggle to finish high school and do not see college as an affordable goal.
We intend to make receiving a college education a reality for these young minds by providing the financial support needed for tuition and living expenses. We will also support them by serving as a resource for general need such as clothing and counseling as well as assisting with summer internship and job placement.

Many of these children fall circumstance to the child  welfare  system as they come from home environments of abuse and neglect.
With a little help, these young adults can begin to feel like someone cares about them and begin to make progress socially, academically and spiritually.

The founder of The Stewardship Foundation, Marlon Quan, once an orphan himself, eloquently talks about the Vision of the Foundation: “Disconnected from their natural families, after the age of 18, these children may have no family at all because this is the legal age that they need to move out, and move on to leave the foster system - without little guidance, little support - or alone. Without a family to help them succeed, their options are extremely limited. The Stewardship Foundation is committed to becoming an important part of their next family. We want to give them back the guidance and support, and above all, hope for a promising future with opportunities for success that a college education offers. We plan to build a financial bridge connecting their last day of foster care through their last day of college. A foster care child’s success recaptures a forgotten natural resource that benefits society immensely and uplifts us all.
