Success For Good Pays Tribute to 2005 Chairs "Table-hopping is encouraged," said Annette Marino, as she welcomed Chairs, Co-chairs, Vice Chairs and Honorary Chairs of 2005 Valley events to the Caleo Resort & Spa on March 20th. Marino, chairman and founding director of Success For Good, whose mission is to strengthen the nonprofit community, planned the first Chairs Club Appreciation Club Luncheon to pay tribune to those whose talents, efforts, management skills, countless hours, generous hearts and plain hard work have made our community a much better place in which to live. Local artist and third-generation-resident, Patsy Lowry, created a one-of-a-kind chair that defies description...that she donated for a drawing at the event (and suffered from separation anxiety when she had to give it up). Rebecca Ailes-Fine drew the winning ticket and donated it back to Success For Good. Ira Gaines won a drawing for a beautiful pin, donated by Molina Fine Jewelers; Cheryl Hintzen Gaines won the massage service donated by the Caleo Resort & Spa. (No, it was not a set-up!) Tom Ambrose, Senior Vice President Community Affairs, Phoenix Suns, spoke eloquently about the importance of giving back to our community; Angela Melczer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Arizona Alliance of Nonprofits, explained how the Alliance works with the community; Bob Hobbs, Jr, President & CEO of Bob Hobbs, Jr. & Associates--and Presenting Sponsor--told of his commitment to donating seats for all his seminars to Valley charities for those who can use the inspiration, yet can't afford to pay the price of a ticket. "A community needs to recognize the men and women who have so generously donated their time and energy," said Claire Knapp, Director of Development and Communication for Make-A-Wish Arizona. "It's wonderful to see such a diverse group of nonprofits represented by such caring men and women all in one room," said Susan Heywood. Annette encourages those who chaired (or will chair) an event in 2006 to sign up on her website now in order to be sure to receive an invitation for next year's event. "I'm so gratified by all the positive feedback--It shows that the time was right for this kind of initiative," she said. For more information, visit www.successforgood.org
