"Seeing Stars!" Debbie Gaby's Catwalk For Charity On Wednesday, November 2nd, the 2005 Celebrity Fashion Show Luncheon, created by Debbie Gaby, was held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. Beginning in the lobby of the ballroom, guests had the opportunity to mingle and purchase interesting items from the Unique Boutique, donated by celebrities, while bidding on silent auction items. A hard-working Catwalk committee put together a lively event, featuring local personalities in the Catwalk Fashion Show, with clothing from Robinsons May. Characters from Sheriff Joe Arpaio to Tim & Willy in the Morning modeled their fashions while entertaining the crowd and bringing lots of laughs. Annette Marino, chairman and founding director of Success For Good, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit community--also producers of the Golden Karma Awards--unveiled the magnificent award which was designed and created by Molina Fine Jewelers. Annette then presented the Golden Karma Awards for Community Philanthropy to two role models and Valley leaders, Susan Karis, senior vice president of the Southwest Region for Clear Channel Radio, and Jimmy Walker, president of the Sports, Entertainment and Business Planning division of Walker & Hebets, LLC. Both honorees showed their appreciation and spoke about the importance of giving back to the community. Stay tuned to find out who will win the soon-to-be-announced Golden Karma Awards for Celebrity Philanthropy! Nominees include: Bono, Elizabeth Taylor, Katie Couric, Sandra Bullock, etc. Some interesting live auction items helped raise more money. "Our main purpose today is to help raise some serious money for The Salvation Army for all the amazing work they do," says Debbie Gaby. "While their efforts are very conspicuous during hurricane tragedies such as Katrina and Rita earlier this year, they are doing some very important work right here in our community as well." The Salvation Army has served over one million people right here in the Valley this year, providing loving care and assistance to victims of domestic violence, children and seniors in need, and many unfortunate people without a place to call home.
