39th Annual 'Night of Gold Ball' Held at Camelback Inn Celebrated History and Future

By Myra Richman

A big blue ribbon was cut Saturday night, March 1st, celebrating the opening of the new Grand Ballroom at the Camelback Inn.  David and Joan Lincoln, both active in many community organizations, were joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by Camelback Inn General Manager Ralph Scatena and Director of Marketing Clark Albright, as they honored the shared history of the Camelback Inn and the Lincoln family, at the 39th annual Night of Gold Ball.

The Night of Gold Ball, always a fabulous event, was hosted by The Guild, a volunteer organization that raises money to support the work of the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation.  This year's theme was “Motown Gold”, and when the doors of the new ballroom opened, guests filed in to the sounds of Dennis Rowland's Motown Magic. You could feel the camaraderie immediately, and it lasted the entire evening.

“It was particularly fitting for the new ballroom to have been inaugurated by the John C. Lincoln Night of Gold Ball,” said Elaine Hugunin, CEO of the Foundation.  “John C. was the investor who brought the Camelback Inn to the Valley back in 1937, and he and his wife, Helen, founded our hospitals.”

Lisa Bruns, chair of this year’s ball, agreed.  “The Lincoln family has provided such leadership and support over the years to so many organizations—we are grateful that they are still involved with John C. Lincoln Health Network, and that they cut the blue ribbon to start the party.”

The Ball raises funds for both John C. Lincoln Hospitals and its community services such as the Food Bank, Children’s Dental Clinic, Community Health Service, Lincoln Learning Center and case management services provided at Marley House.
