Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona Hosted 8th Annual Golf Classic

By Myra Richman

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona hosted the 2008 Golf Classic on November 24, 2008 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, presented once again by Arizona Central Credit Union. After registration and a fun silent auction, 260 golfers took off with a shotgun start for a beautiful, cloudless day of golf with their friends--to help make wishes come true for children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Lunch was served at multiple grill stations and ended with a live auction and cocktail reception. Judging by the attendees' camaraderie, good humor and laughter during the event, the day was a huge success.

Golfers enjoyed Scottsdale’s acclaimed Grayhawk Golf Club, home to two of the Southwest’s most enjoyable and challenging golf experiences, with killer views of the McDowell Mountains and surrounding Sonoran Desert.

Attending the event were two very special 'wish kids', along with David Williams (president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America), Tim Jeffries (board chair), Daron Sutton and Rusty Dees (chair of the event).

The Make-A-Wish Foundation had its own wish--to raise more than $140,000 at this year’s event, which will be enough to grant the wishes of 20 Arizona children.
