John C. Lincoln Health Foundation's 41st Annual Night of Gold Ball

By Myra Richman

The John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Guild hosted it's 41st Annual Night of Gold Ball on March 20, 2010, at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.  The event was hosted by Kim Novotny, wife of Michael Novotny, president of the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Guild.  Together, they are long-time supporters of the Network and its Desert Mission programs.

Always a warm and friendly smoothly-run event, more than 600 guests attended the black-and-white themed gala, which will benefit a variety of programs throughout the Network from the Desert Mission Food Bank to Trauma Services.

During the cocktail hour, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the patio downtown views, and to bid on a beautifully displayed impressive array of auction items--from Jay Leno tickets to a weekend package in Prescott to an autographed guitar by Dierks Bentley to laptop computers.

The live auction was a big success, thanks in part to Foundation president and CEO, Marcia Mintz, who jumped right in with passion and charm, and made things happen.

Last year, the Night of Gold Ball raised $325,000 for the John C. Lincoln Breast Health and Research Center and 19 other projects, such as scholarships for seniors through Adult Day Health Center and equipment for the Children’s Dental Clinic. Since its inception, the Night of Gold Ball has raised over $4 million, and has benefitted projects as diverse as equipment for a cardiac catheterization lab to snacks for hungry school children.
