Women of Scottsdale Annual Hats Luncheon

By Myra Richman

Once again, heads were turning (slowly) as everyone was eyeing the many beautiful, vintage, silly, serious, inventive and one-of-a-kind handmade hats worn by members and guests of Women of Scottsdale at their annual hats luncheon at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa on April 16, 2010.

Thanks to the Arizona Opera company, guests were treated to beautiful arias by Grace Brooks, accompanied by Julian Reed.

Marisa Benincasa spoke about the exciting work being done by the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and the services they're providing.

Director Mary Contreras introduced the judges--top-hatted Jeffrey Hatrick of the Ritz Carlton Phoenix, and Helen Nosova--who selected the creative winners in the following categories among a sea of hats:

  • "It's All About Me"  Mary Fennello
  • "Vintage"  Petra Von Gebhardi
  • "Most Beautiful"  Rochelle McGhee
  • "Made by Hand"  Loriann Harnish
  • Judges' Choice"  Darlene Keller
