22nd Annual Crozier Gala
By Myra Richman
On Saturday, May 1, 2010, the Catholic Community Foundation held its 22nd annual Crozier Gala at the Camelback Inn, with an impressive four bishops and 80 priests in attendance.
The evening began with a reception on the terrace at sundown, with the music of Allegro Quartet in the background.
The doors to the ballroom opened and the beautiful sounds of the Xavier College Preparatory Honor Choir, under the direction of Amanda Sherrill, welcomed the crowd of more than 650 guests.
Herb Sendek was Master of Ceremonies. The Papal blessing was a tribute to the priests of the Diocese of Phoenix, and was presented by the Knights of Columbus to Bishop Olmsted, followed by a a gift delivery to the priests in the audience by the student ambassadors.
Guest vocalist Mark Forrest, a celebrated Irish tenor, delighted the crowd.
Guest speaker Father Robert Spitzer, president emeritus of Gonzaga University and founder/president of the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership, inspired the audience. He has spoken to British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Cabinet as well as other world leaders.
