Statement of Purpose: | Since 1980, ACCEL (Arizona Centers for Comprehensive Education and Life-Skills) a private, nonprofit special education program for individuals, ages 5-21 and adults 18 and older, has been providing innovative, individualized and comprehensive education, life skills, behavioral and transition services to students and adults with a wide range of abilities and challenges including autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and emotional, physical and health impairments. Programming is individualized and intensive support services are integrated into daily activities. Vocational programming is designed to specifically help high school students with special needs develop relevant job skills. ACCEL School Programs consist of two campuses, as well as satellite classrooms on public school district campuses. These programs provide evidenced based practices in applied behavior analysis, structured teaching, as well as speech, occupational, and physical therapy services and assistive technology integrated into the classroom programs. A functional life skills curriculum focusing on dignity, independence, and community skills for all students is a primary focus. Our philosophy incorporates a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model that moves instruction out of the traditional classroom and into a wide variety of functional settings. Our mission is to provide exceptional educational, therapeutic, and vocational programs to individuals with special needs, to give them the necessary skills to learn, to work, and to live successfully with dignity and independence. Our vision is to become a recognized leader in the education and employment of individuals with special needs, and to provide model educational, entrepreneurial, and residential environments. | ||
